Smart boarding
On King’s Day, it is smart to avoid stations such as Central Station. Instead, get on at stations such as Amstel, Zuid, or Sloterdijk and take the metro or tram from there to the city center. You avoid the biggest crowds and get there just as quickly.

There are many checks on large bags, glassware and alcohol on public transport. So take as little as possible. And be prepared for walking: many canals and squares can only be reached on foot.
